Sri Lanka proposed vehicular exhaust emission standard and Safety Measures/Standards regulation

Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment, Department of Imports and Exports Control proposed Technical Notes No. 15 & 16 of the Budget Speech 2018, new regulations were drafted related to the vehicular exhaust emission and safety standards. The measures related to the vehicular exhaust emission were based on Euro 4 standards. The Motor vehicles below the Emission Standards of the EURO 4 or its equivalent will be prohibited.

Importation of Motor Vehicles which are not complied with the safety standards will be prohibited to import.

The required safety measures for importation, manufacturing or assembling of vehicles were published in the above mentioned Gazette Notifications.
