How to Export

 

 

HOW TO EXPORT

To start export business, the following steps may be undertaken
 

Establish Organisation

  • Proprietorship, Partnership, LLP, Public/Private limited
  • Attractive name with logo is advisable


Obtaining PAN


Opening a Bank Account

  • A Current account with a Bank which is authorized to deal in Foreign Exchange should be opened. Please ensure it is not a no foreign exchange involved (NFEI) branch.

Registration with Tax Authorities

  • Goods exported out of the country are eligible for zero-rated supply under GST. To avail this benefit, it is important for an exporter to get registered with the concerned Tax Authorities. https://reg.gst.gov.in/registration/

Obtaining IEC

  • As per Para 2.05 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-20 no export can be made without obtaining an IEC.
  • An application for e-IEC is filed online at www.dgft.gov.in as per ANF 2A, with an application fee of Rs. 500/- (net Banking or credit/debit card). and it is PAN based. https://www.dgft.gov.in/CP/?opt=iec-profile-management
  • Click on ‘Apply for IEC’.
  • Documents required: Cancelled cheque (With entity’s pre-printed name) and Address proof of applicant entity.
  • Every IEC holder must ensure their IEC details are updated electronically annually by 30 June every year.
  • Confirmation of Unchanged Details: In cases with no changes to the IEC details, this status must be confirmed online within the same period.


Obtaining RCMC

  • To apply for FIEO RCMC please visit dgft.gov.in > Services > select e-RCMC > apply for e-RCMC > Register at dgft > login > file application and select agency as ‘FIEO’.
  • While applying for RCMC, an exporter has to declare his main line of business in the application. The exporter is required to obtain RCMC from the Council which is concerned with the product of his main line of business.
  • In case an export product is not covered by any Export Promotion Council/Commodity Board etc., RCMC in respect thereof is to be obtained from FIEO. Further, in case of multi product exporters, not registered with any EPC, where main line of business is yet to be settled, the exporter has an option to obtain RCMC from Federation of Indian Exporters Organization (FIEO).
  • In respect of multi product exporters having their head office/ registered office in the North Eastern States, RCMC may be obtained from Shellac & Forest Products Export Promotion Council (except for the products looked after by APEDA, Spices Board and Tea Board).
  • In respect of exporters of handicrafts and handloom products from the UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Director, Handicrafts, Government of Jammu & Kashmir is authorised to issue RCMC.
  • RCMC is valid for five years. Hence payments can be made by renewing every year or for five years at one time.

Registration at ICEGATE

  • Once the IEC and GST registration is received, the exporter has to register at ICEGATE Portal. Details like PAN, GST, IEC, AADHAR etc. are required for validation. Visit https://www.icegate.gov.in/

  • Documents: DSC Class III encrypted, Authorization Letter and for companies Board Resolution Document.

AD Code Registration at ICEGATE & Customs Port

  • After successful registration at ICEGATE, two types of Bank Account Registrations are required to be registered before sending any shipment:
  1. Foreign Remittance Account (AD Code) for filing of S/b, and
  2. Refund/Incentive Accounts for receiving the refunds of GST and incentives like Drawback.
